In addition to announcing Lightroom CC 2015.8 today, Adobe also launched version 2.6 of Lightroom for iOS. The new app update overhauls the editing interface, making it easier for photographers to edit RAW files on a phone.

“Lightroom mobile 2.6 represents a significant evolution of editing on mobile devices,” Adobe says. “We wanted to improve the ability to quickly find and access tools and ensure the fastest way to enhance and edit images on a phone.”

The user interface changes were all based on feedback from photographers about how they normally use Lightroom for iOS.

Similar tools are now gathered into basic categories that make it easier to access multiple related tools in one place.

The new interface has also been optimized for use with a single hand. You can see the entire photo while you’re editing it, and you can also navigate between commonly-used tools without having to bring your second hand into the picture. For example, instead of having to use 3 fingers to see a before-and-after view, you can now use one finger to tap and hold.

Lightroom for iOS 2.6 introduces a new info section that lets you add titles, captions, and copyright information to photos directly from your mobile device. This is yet another feature that’s being brought over from Lightroom for desktop, making the iOS app more complete as a solution for doing all the editing work you need to do.

Finally, there’s a new photo capturing interface and a new professional mode that gives you complete control over many camera settings — things like exposure, shutter speed, ISO, and white balance.

You can start using the new interface and features right now by downloading Lightroom for iOS 2.6 for free from the iTunes App Store.
