How do you start your car on a bitingly cold winter morning?  Idling the car for a few minutes seems like the perfect idea. However, studies reveal that logic may cause damage to the car. People assume car idling heats up the engine to the optimal driving temperatures. The seemingly brilliant idea could cause potential damage to the car, environment, and your wallet. Car idling in cold weather was a common practice in 1980/1990 when vehicles used carburetors. Currently, most of the cars have advanced computer systems and modern fuel injection technology that detects the engine temperature.  It also distributes the fuel evenly thereby lubricating the engine in a rapid manner. Experts’ advice on warming the car for about 30 seconds only. For those with early 90’s cars, avoid leaving your car in the cold for extended periods.
