Woman with 27 contact lenses in her eye probably set some kind of record, right?

As a person with nearly perfect vision (not trying to brag, I swear), the thought of a morning routine that includes touching your eyeballs sounds pretty horrifying.

One woman seems to have the routine nailed down to a tee... she just happened to forget the second, and most important part: removing the contacts.

Surgeons in the UK found a staggering 17 contact lenses in a 67-year-old patient's eye. A subsequent examination found a further 10 lenses, bringing the total number of contacts up to a staggering 27.

Rupal Morjaria, a specialist trainee ophthalmologist who found the mass of contacts, told Optometry Today: "It was such a large mass. All the 17 contact lenses were stuck together. We were really surprised that the patient didn’t notice it because it would cause quite a lot of irritation while it was sitting there." Read more...
