Two Suspects Arrested in Florida in Massive Interstate Fentanyl Bust

Two Davie, Florida residents were arrested and are facing drug-related charges after a successful drug raid conducted by federal agents on Wednesday afternoon.

The suspects, identified as Anthony Santos Gomes and Elizabeth Ton, will face “conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute … controlled substances and controlled substance analogues resulting in serious bodily injury and death,” according to the indictment that NBC Miami acquired.

Several Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents, along with authorities from Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Internal Revenue Service and Department of Homeland Security agents, set up a drug raid operation on Wednesday at Laurel Oaks Drive, where Ton and Gomes lived.

The agents were waiting in the suspects’ neighborhood before they arrived at their house at around 5 p.m., reported 7 News Miami.

It was revealed that the property was purchased in May for $850,000 with a 30-year adjustable mortgage by Iyana Enterprise Incorporated, a corporation owned by Gomes.

The documentation states that Gomes, Ton and seven other co-conspirators “did knowingly and intentionally combine, conspire, confederate and agree together … to possess with intent to distribute” the substances, which are listed as Fentanyl and Ethylone.

It continued to note: “Co-conspirators used computers to order and sell substances online using internet sites that are specifically designed to be hidden from the public.

Co-conspirators used various telecommunications facilities designed to mask their identities.”

The first of five counts in the indictment applies to Gomes and Ton, while the rest are charged to the other individuals, and include money laundering conspiracy, and other charges related to importing and distributing the drugs.

These substances were reportedly ordered and obtained by the group from Canada and China, and sold in different states. It said that the group distributed the drugs to Florida, Georgia, North Dakota, Oregon, Colorado, North Carolina, Maryland and New Jersey.

Other names mentioned in the indictment include Jian Zhang a.k.a Hong Kong Zaron; Jason Joey Berry a.k.a Daniel Desnoyers; Xuan Cahn Nguyen a.k.a Jackie a.k.a Jackie Chan; Marie Um a.k.a Angry Bird; Vannek Um, Linda Van and Darius Ghahary a.k.a Dash a.k.a R6.

Four deaths as well as several serious bodily injuries are believed to be linked to the case.
