Instagram lets you archive stories

Instagram announced that stories will be automatically save to your archive when they expire. According to Instagram, this makes it easy for you to revisit your favorite moments later on or bring them back to life in a highlight. Only you can see your archived stories, and you can choose to turn off auto-archiving at any time in your profile settings. This has been rolled out globally.

Instagram highlights

Stories Highlights is another new feature Instagram have introduced. Highlights are photos which are named collections of your past Stories that show up in a new horizontal bar across the top of your profile. According to Instagram to help you build highlights, your stories will now automatically save into a private Stories Archive so you can easily relive them whenever you want.

Import your Instagram contacts into Messenger

Facebook and Instagram have begun testing a feature that allows you to add your Instagram contacts into Messenger. According to TechCrunch, they are looking to make it simpler to sync your Instagram and Messenger account with one another. Facebook and Instagram aren’t formally announcing the launch of this feature, but they are testing it.

Facebook ‘Messenger Kids’

Facebook has opened up messenger for children under the age of 13. Messenger Kids” lets parents download the app on their child’s phone or tablet, create a profile for them and approve friends and family with whom they can text and video chat from the main Messenger app. They do not need a Facebook page or a mobile number but instead can communicate with other Messenger and Messenger Kids users parents sign-off on.

Instagram reach 25M active business profiles

Instagram announced this morning that it now has 25 million active business profiles, up from 15 million in July. this one’s significant as a measure of how many businesses see Instagram as an important way to connect with customers. Instagram also says that more than 80 percent of Instagram accounts follow a business, with 200 million users visiting a business profile every day.

Meet the man who shut down trumps Twitter account

After much speculation, the man who shut down Trumps Twitter account has spoken out about what happened that day. Bahtiyar Duysak, the ex-twitter employees was a contractor for a fixed term for the last part of his stay in the U.S. under a work and study visa. According to Duysak, Someone reported Trump’s account on Duysak’s last day; as a final, throwaway gesture, he put the wheels in motion to deactivate it. He closed his laptop and left the building, without realizing the damaged and buzz he had caused. He describes the event to TechCrunch as “mistake.” Specifically, he told us, he never thought the account would actually get deactivated. Watch the full interview below.

Facebook announces new tools and initiatives for communities

At Facebooks annual Social Good Forum, they announced new tools and initiatives to help people keep each other safe and supported on Facebook. They will be launching the following:

  • Mentorship and Support
  • Eliminating nonprofit fees,
  • Facebook Donations Fund
  • Charitable giving tools expansion
  • Fundraisers API
  • Community Help API
  • Blood donations feature

Each of the features can be found on Facebooks blog. Facebook announced 'We are constantly inspired by all the good that people do on Facebook and are committed to continuing to build tools that help communities do more good together'.
