  • The street, in the county of Suffolk, England, has cripplingly slow speeds.
  • Comparison site uSwitch said it can take 21 hours to download a two-hour film.
  • Internet speeds in the UK still vary hugely, according to uSwitch's data.

The street with the slowest internet connection in Britain has been named as Thorpe Lane, Trimley St Martin, Suffolk, where it takes more than 21 hours to watch a two-hour film on Netflix.

The rural street, which is 90 miles from central London, has an average internet speed of 0.68 megabits per second (Mbps) — 53 times slower than the UK's average speed, according to price comparison service uSwitch.com.

Thorpe Lane's internet speed is one 260th of that on Benford Avenue in Motherwell, southern Scotland — where it takes less than five minutes to download the same two-hour film.

Internet speeds in the UK still come down to a "postcode lottery," uSwitch said.

For example, it takes less than 40 minutes to drive from Red Willow in Harlow, Essex, to Noak Hill Road in Billericay, where internet speeds are 143 times faster.

As a whole, Britain isn't doing too well in terms of internet speed. Out of a recent global ranking of 40 nations, the UK came 31st.
