Asian American Student’s Body Found ‘Badly Decomposing’ Inside Georgia Mall Food Court

The body of an Asian American university student was found two weeks after she died at Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth, Georgia in December.

Found in an “advanced state of decomposition” at the mall’s food court area on Dec. 21, the body was identified on Wednesday as 19-year-old Georgia State University sophomore student Silling A. Man from Lawrenceville, according to the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office.

She initially disappeared on Oct. 8, but returned home shortly after police were contacted, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

According to authorities, Man went missing again two days later, and would not be found again until her body was discovered. No one filed a missing person report when she disappeared the second time.

Gwinnett County police noted that Man was last seen on Nov. 20 when she picked up her last paycheck at a store in Perimeter Mall where she worked.

It is also worth noting that while she enrolled for the Fall 2017 semester as a psychology major, she did not register for classes in the spring semester.

Police have yet to reveal the cause of her death as “the circumstances surrounding her death are still being investigated,” according to a press release.

Anyone with information about Man’s activities and acquaintances in the time leading up to her death is requested to get in touch with a Gwinnett County detective at (770) 513-5300.

Her family has since started a GoFundMe for her funeral expenses.
