Tesla may have picked a location for Elon Musk's promised "roller skates & rock restaurant" in Los Angeles.

The company has applied for the necessary permits to build a restaurant and Supercharger station in Santa Monica, California, Electrek reported on Tuesday

In January, Musk tweeted: "Gonna put an old school drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in LA".

In follow-up tweets, Musk approved of the idea of customers ordering from Tesla touch screens and granting visitors "digital trophies" for visiting different Supercharger-restaurant hybrids. Musk also promised "an outdoor screen that plays a highlight reel of the best scenes in movie history."

Musk also hinted that the Supercharger would be near Interstate 405 — a qualification that the Santa Monica locations seems to meet.

Musk began speaking about his plan to combine Supercharger stations and restaurants in 2017. In September, Musk said that Tesla would unveil the first "mega supercharging location" with amenities "relatively soon."

"I think we'll get a sense for just sort of how cool it can be to have a great place to — if you've been driving for three, four hours — stop, have great restrooms, great food, amenities, hang out and for half an hour and then be on your way," Musk said on a call with investors.

It typically takes drivers about 30 minutes to recharge their vehicles at Tesla's many Supercharger locations. However, for Americans used to simply refilling a tank of gas, half-an-hour can feel like a long time. So, a restaurant could be a nice perk for impatient drivers.

It would not be difficult for Musk and Tesla to find help on the culinary side of things. Musk's brother, Kimball, is a restaurateur. And, fast-food chain Sonic Drive-In has already offered its services on Twitter.
