Tell me if this sounds familiar.

An actress goes to an audition. She wants the part — she likes the part. But, as usual, it’s a female character written by male creators. And she’s troubled that the character’s first scene involves giving a guy a blow job.

Here’s the part of the story we’re not accustomed to hearing: She spoke up about it.

The actress told a room of Hollywood men with the power to deny her the role that she would not play a character who’s introduced to the audience on her knees. More unusual still, the men unequivocally agreed with her, promising to change the oversight.

“Now whether these men all of a sudden saw it from her point of view and realized it was an undignified way to introduce the character — or they thought, ‘Urgh, we're in the middle of #MeToo.
