A 21-year-old Chinese exchange student studying at Pennsylvania State University d‌‌i‌e‌‌d in a horrific car cr‌as‌h after the vehicle he was driving hit a tree on a residential street.

The exchange student, identified as Tang Kaijing, was driving his white Chevrolet Corvette at around 4 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of South Atherton Street and West Fairmont Avenue when he lost control of his car and hit a tree. , according to Alpha Fire Company who first responded to the accident.

First responders discovered that rather than a Corvette and a motorcycle involved in the accident, only one vehicle was involved and it had been split completely into two pieces,” Alpha Fire Company wrote.

The street was reportedly closed off for four hours as authorities cleared the crash site.

The vehicle was split in half due to the force of impact, and investigators believe that his speed was a contributing factor to the accident.

He suffered a fa‌t‌al head injury and was pronounced d‌‌e‌‌a‌‌d at the scene, according to Center Country coroner Scott Sayers, Center Daily Times reported via South China Morning Post.
