Constance Wu May Play a Stripper in Upcoming Crime Drama ‘Hustlers’
“Fresh Off the Boat” and “Crazy Rich Asians” star Constance Wu is on board to play an undisclosed leading role in the upcoming stripper, crime drama movie project “Hustlers.”
Based on the New York Magazine piece “The Hustlers at Score” by author Jessica Pressler, the movie “Hustler” will follow the story of “savvy former strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients,” according to Deadline.
Jennifer Lopez, who plays the leader of the group, will also produce the film alongside Gloria Sanchez, Benny Medina, and producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas.
It is still unclear what character the 36-year-old Asian-American actress will play, but Angry Asian Man believes that she could portray the role of Roselyn Keo, a former stripper at the center of Pressler’s article.
“The film is an empathetic look at women and men, our gender roles, what we’re valued for, what we’ve been told is our value in every movie, TV show, every corner of culture,” film’s writer and director, Lorene Scafaria, said in a statement. “Men have been told they’re worth the size of their bank accounts. Women have been told they’re worth the symmetry of their faces, their bodies, their beauty and that’s what this film is based on. The rules of the club are the rules of the world.”
No official word yet on when “Hustler” will enter production or its release date.
