Filipino Singer Performs As Both Andrea Bocelli and Céline Dion on ‘The Ellen Show’

A talented Filipino singer with the incredible ability to sing in both male and female voices recently made an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

A former balut vendor, Marcelito Pomoy shot to national fame after winning the second season of local reality talent contest “Pilipinas Got Talent.”

His appearance on DeGeneres’ show was featured in a clip uploaded to YouTube last Tuesday.

Pomoy told DeGeneres that he didn’t expect to be invited on television and shared that he was thrilled when he received the plane ticket for him to fly to the United States.

“Actually, I really didn’t expect it but EllenTV.com messaged me on Facebook. I still could not believe it even after being interviewed on Skype. I was only convinced after the ticket going to Ellen arrived,” Pomoy said in Filipino.

“Here you are because you are amazing,” DeGeneres told Pomoy.

Pomoy impressed DeGeneres and the studio audience with his incredible “duet” version of “The Prayer,” channeling both Andrea Bocelli and Céline Dion.

When DeGeneres asked how he discovered that he could sing both the male and female parts, Pomoy admitted he doesn’t really know how but he attributed his talents to God.

During the interview, Pomoy also shared that he left home when he was still a young boy and spent his years living on the streets, surviving on $1 a day.

For his second song, Pomoy delivered another duet, singing both the male and female parts of “Beauty and the Beast.”
