Notoriously Spicy Korean Ramen Noodles Now Has a Less Spicy Product For You Weaksauces

The Samyang Hot Chicken Spicy Ramen Noodles are notorious for being so hot that they burn all the way through your esophagus.

With a rating of about 4,404 Scoville Heat Units, its spiciness has become the subject of a viral online challenge in which people try to finish a plateful of the noodles. As shown in the numerous failed challenges on YouTube, it appears very few people can actually pull it off.

Fortunately for those with very minimal tolerance for spicy foods, Samyang Hot Chicken Spicy Ramen Noodle has come up with a “light” version that promises to score significantly lower on the Scoville scale, a unit of pungency (spiciness or “heat”).

Unveiled last month on the Samyang Foods official Instagram, the spiciness of the light version has reportedly been reduced by 40%, which places it at around 2642.4 SHU.

While still pretty spicy, the new variant can let those who have been wanting to try the noodles out some window to give it a go.

Another selling point of the new noodles is that they are also about 150 calories less than the regular version, containing just 375 calories per serving compared to the 530 calories the original carries, SAYS.com noted.

While the noodles are currently available in South Korea, it is unclear where else these “light” versions can be purchased.
