Perspectum, the medical software startup based in Oxford, recently raised $36 million after being backed by HealthQuest Capital and the Blue Venture Fund. 

Founded in 2012 by Rajarshi Banerjee, in partnership with the University of Oxford, Perspectum's diagnostic tools uses cutting-edge software to extract data from MRI scans and aid in the detection of chronic liver disease.

The healthtech industry is booming, with figures showing investments in European healthtech firms jumped more than 40% between the first quarters of 2019 and 2020 – from $96 million to $140 million – according to research firm Beauhurst. 

Banerjee said having both HealthQuest Capital and the Blue Venture Fund on board would be "enormously beneficial" to Perspectum's future projects, bringing "invaluable insight" and "experience [in] ramping up growth-stage healthcare companies".
