Asus Chromebook C223NA 11.6-inch Chromebook: £229.99 £179 at Amazon
Save £50 -
This entry level Asus Chromebook has just dropped below £180 at Amazon, which means you can pick up a super cheap laptop for just £179 right now. With 4GB RAM and 32GB of onboard storage you're not picking up a super powerful machine here, but that Intel Celeron N3350 processor and the Chrome operating system will still offer a streamlined everyday experience.

Asus Vivobook 14-inch laptop: £249.99 £179.99 at Amazon
Save £70 -
We rarely see Windows laptops offering larger 14-inch displays this cheap, but this Asus Vivobook at £179.99 is looking particularly strong this week - that's £20 cheaper than the previous £199 sales price we saw over Prime Day. You're getting an Intel Celeron N4020 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage here as well, great specs at this price point.

Asus C423 14-inch Chromebook: £229.99 £199.99 at John Lewis
Save £30 -
If you need a larger display on your laptop than the 11.6-inch screen size we usually find at this price point, John Lewis currently has an excellent price on the Asus C423. You're even getting 64GB of storage in here as opposed to the 32GB more often seen under £200, and a two year guarantee as well.

Cheap laptop deals from £200 to £300

Asus 15.6-inch Chromebook: £299.99 £229.99 at Amazon
Save £70 -
We rarely see full sized 15.6-inch devices reaching this close to £200, which means you're getting a fantastic deal on this super slim Asus Chromebook. With an Intel Celeron N3350 processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage you're getting strong specs at this price as well.

Asus E410MA 14-inch laptop: £329 £259 at Currys
Save £70 -
We rarely see Windows machines worth running available for under £300, let alone £259. Not only that, but you're moving beyond the standard 64GB of storage we might expect in this price range, picking up 128GB of eMMC space. That Intel N4020 processor and 4GB RAM mean this is still a light-use machine though.

Dell Inspiron 15.6-inch laptop: £329 £279 at Currys
Save £50 -
It's rare to find a 128GB SSD in a laptop under £300, especially one with an Intel Pentium Silver N5030 processor. That means this is going to be one speedy machine for the price, and with a full 15.6-inch display you're still getting plenty of screen space for streaming.

HP 14-inch laptop: £329 £299 at Currys
Save £30 -
The 128GB SSD inside this £299 HP laptop is working seriously hard at this price point - that's a level of speedy storage that's particularly rare to find under £300. The 4GB RAM supporting it is to be expected here, so you won't be powering through any demanding programs with this model, especially with that Intel Pentium Gold 6405U processor, but it's an excellent buy for lighter schoolwork or everyday browsing.

Cheap laptop deals from £300 to £400

Asus X515 15.6-inch laptop: £329.99 at Argos
Stock is running low on this Asus 15.6-inch laptop, but if your local Argos has stock we'd recommend taking a look. That massive 1TB hard drive is excellent value for money at this price point, and it's still paired with 8GB of RAM where the cost could easily have only called for 4GB.

Acer Swift 1 14-inch laptop: £449 £329 at Very
Save £120 -
If you're looking for speedy storage on a budget, this Acer Swift 1 is looking particularly enticing. You're sacrificing a little performance, with only 4GB RAM, but still getting a nice Intel Pentium N6000 processor to keep things running. HP 15.6-inch laptop: £369 £349 at Currys
Save £20 -
There's a £20 saving on this cheap HP laptop at Currys right now, which is particularly impressive considering there's a massive 1TB hard drive packed in. While 4GB RAM and an AMD Athlon Silver processor won't be taking you too far into the world of demanding software, that's perfect for everyday browsing and light work.

Lenovo V14 14-inch laptop: £399 £369.97 at Laptops Direct
Save £30 -
This is a great price for an 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD machine, even if you are sacrificing a little processing power with the AMD Athlon Gold 3150U. This configuration is perfect for those looking for more storage and memory power than they would normally find in the £300 price range, though.

HP 14-inch laptop: £449 £379 at Currys
Save £70 -
You're dropping RAM in this cheap laptop deal, only picking up 4GB where 8GB is likely best for most mid-range uses. However, with an 11th generation i3 processor and 256GB SSD you're getting excellent value overall, especially if you're just after a budget machine for everyday browsing and lighter workflows.

Cheap laptop deals between £400 and £600

Asus M415DA 14-inch laptop: £529.98 £449.99 at Ebuyer
Save £80 -
The Asus M415DA packs a Ryzen 5 processor with 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD - that's perfect for saving some cash on a reliable mid-range machine with a 14-inch form factor that also lends itself well to portability. That display is also running at a 60Hz refresh rate which means streaming will look silky smooth as well.

Asus 14-inch laptop (X415JA): £599 £479 at Very
Save £120 -
If you'd prefer an Intel PC, this Asus model comes with a 10th generation i5 CPU. That's great for mid-range work, but will struggle with more demanding software or multi-tasking workflows. You'll still find 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD inside for everyday work and Norton 360 Antivirus for free as well.

Asus Vivobook 14-inch laptop: £559.38 £499.98 at Ebuyer
Save £59.40 -
You don't find a 512GB SSD inside a sub-£500 laptop everyday, which means this 14-inch Asus Vivobook for £499 is excellent value for money in this week's laptop deals. On top of all that storage space you'll also find 8GB RAM and a Ryzen 5 processor as well.

Asus 14-inch laptop: £599.99 £549.99 at Ebuyer
Save £50 -
Not only does this Asus laptop pack a 512GB SSD but there's also a Ryzen 7 processor inside for extra speed. 8GB RAM won't be seeing you through as much multi-tasking as those other specs suggest, but can still chug along, especially considering the speedy SSD storage. We rarely see storage like this paired with such a powerful processor for under £600.

Acer Swift 3 14-inch laptop: £699 £599 at Currys
Save £100 -
There's a massive 1TB SSD inside this Acer Swift 3 at Currys - an incredible amount of speedy storage for under £600. Pair that with a Ryzen 5 processor and 8GB RAM and you've got a great price on a strong mid-range machine ready to take on slightly more demanding software.

Asus Vivobook 14-inch laptop: £699.99 £599.97 at Amazon
Save £100 -
It's not easy to pack 16GB RAM, a 512GB SSD and the latest 11th generation i5 processor into a sub-£600 price tag but a £100 discount at Amazon is doing just that. You're dropping down on screen size here a little, to 14-inches, but if you're after a more portable machine that's perfect.

Best laptop deals over £600

HP 14-inch laptop: £749 £649 at Currys
Save £100 -
With an 11th generation i7 processor, 8GB RAM and a 512GB SSD, there's plenty of power inside this £650 laptop deal at Currys. The 14-inch machine is perfect for working on the go - especially with that 10 hour battery life - and you can save a full £100 over the original £749 price.

HP Envy 13.3-inch laptop: £699 £649 at Currys
Save £50 -
Currys has knocked £50 off the price of this premium HP Envy laptop this week. A 10th generation i5 processor is merely ok at this price point, but things start to shine once you find the 512GB SSD and 32GB of Intel Optane memory under the hood.

Apple MacBook Air (M1): £999 £898 at Amazon
Save £101 -
You're saving just over £100 on the latest MacBook Air here, and one with the powerful M1 chip at the helm no less. That's an excellent price - even if we have seen it around £20 cheaper in the past in a particularly speedy flash sale. This configuration offers 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD.

Cheap laptops: what to look out for

Cheap laptops can often lure shoppers in with a sub-£200 price tag, but unless you're picking up a Chromebook you're unlikely to get your money's worth with these particular models. Chromebooks largely run on Chrome OS, which means they rely less on more expensive components and more on cloud-based services provided by Google Chrome. That means you'll regularly find cheap laptops under £200 that are well worth your cash - provided they were built with this functioning in mind.

These kinds of budget laptops are regularly found on sale, but every now and then we do spot savings that offer mid-range specs for entry level prices.

It's worth looking out for cheap laptop deals that offer a Windows 10 operating system, but only 16 or 32GB of storage space. You'll likely speed through those gigabites faster than you'd think, and storing those hefty Windows 10 updates often presents a new challenge in its own right. That means the smallest we would recommend on this page is a 64GB hard drive if you're running a Windows 10 or 10s operating system.

Cheap laptops can also come with the caveat that they don't offer an operating system at all. These FreeDOS laptops can sometimes be appealing (and if you're up for installing your own copy of Windows or Linux, they often deserve to be), but it's important to check that spec and low price before you buy. We do feature the odd freeDOS budget laptop on this roundup, as they can prove cost effective, but we'll make sure you know when we do.
