GMC's Hummer EV supertruck gets the documentary treatment

General Motors is drumming up the drama ahead of the release of the revived Hummer electric "supertruck."

On Tuesday, a trailer for an hour-long documentary about the conception and production of the massive EV was released. Titled, "Revolution: GMC Hummer EV," it will air March 27 at 11 a.m. ET on A+E Network's History Channel.

In the trailer we see the electric truck off-roading in Moab, Utah, carving through icy roads in Michigan, and showing off its distinctive diagonal driving in CrabWalk mode. The film includes interviews with the engineers and designers who brought back the Hummer as an electric pickup, in the middle of a pandemic. Even GM CEO Mary Barra makes an appearance.

The first-edition version of the once-discontinued gas-guzzlers are expected this fall. The first of the 350-mile range vehicles will be $112,595. Pared-down versions are slated to arrive in the coming years with a less shocking price tag (but still starting at $79,995).

After the History Channel premiere, an encore showing of "Revolution" will be on A+E's FYI Network on March 31 at 9 p.m. ET. It'll also be available to stream on Hulu and History.com on March 27 and on GMC's YouTube channel on April 3.
