'Atlanta' says goodbye with Season 4 trailer

Atlanta is back to take its final bow.

Donald Glover's noir-esque dramedy is set for one final season, premiering Sept. 15 on FX. The fourth season is being released following a much-anticipated Season 3, which landed in March following a four-year wait.

The third season swept the wildly talented cast to Europe, where the core crew navigated some strange, existential circumstances. The season kept its stars — Earn Marks (Glover), his cousin Alfred "Paper Boi" Miles (Bryan Tyree Henry), friend Darius Epps (Lakeith Stanfield), and on-and-off partner Van Keefer (Zazie Beetz) — and divided critics, largely because of the standalone episodes that told stories outside the realm of Atlanta and its base characters. Still, Atlanta Season 3 garnered the critical acclaim it has since its genesis, thanks to its inimitable nature and sharp writing.

In Season 4, the cast returns to its roots and namesake city. Director Hiro Murai, who has worked on the bulk of Atlanta episodes, told the Hollywood Reporter, "We got to say goodbye properly to the city and the show, I think it’ll feel a little nostalgic too because I don’t think you’ve seen Atlanta during the summer since season one. It’s kind of like the greatest hits season."
