  • A DNA test has proved that a former wrestler is not Rep. Lauren Boebert's father.
  • Her mother had a brief fling with Stan Lane in the 1980s and has long claimed he was her father.
  • Lane said the ongoing accusation had been "stressful" for him and his family.

A DNA test has shown that retired professional wrestler Stan Lane is not Rep. Lauren Boebert's father, despite her mother maintaining so for years.

Although a court-ordered paternity test had shown decades ago that Lane was not her father, there was some suspicion about the results as the lab worker who took Lane's blood sample was later convicted of taking a bribe to switch vials in a separate case, The Daily Beast reported.

Last month Boebert and Lane took another test, which found conclusively that he is not her father.

"I can confirm that Stan Lane is not my biological father. I personally have never publicly claimed he was my father—but certainly, that allegation is out there," Boebert told The Daily Beast.

"The Toby Keith song 'Who's Your Daddy' hits a bit differently now," said the Colorado Rep.

Boebert's mother, Shawn Roberts Bentz, met the wrestler in the mid-1980s and had a brief relationship with him. She later claimed that Boebert was his child and sought child support from him.

Lane said in a statement to The Daily Beast: "This situation and the numerous false claims made against me over the years has been stressful for me and my family."

"I feel my otherwise good reputation has been tarnished considerably. I and other close members of my inner circle have been dragged into this as well."

Lane said that he was informed in the 1980s that "a woman I had a short affair with was accusing me of fathering her child."

"We went through the legal system and completed a court-ordered paternity test," he added. "I was declared not to be the father, and the case was dismissed."

But years later, Bentz learned that the lab worker had swapped the sample of an NFL player who had done a paternity test, and she petitioned for the courts to investigate. Lane eventually agreed to another paternity test last month.

"The results came back on May 11, 2023. They were conclusive that I had a 0.0% chance of being the biological father," Lane said. "Once we both reviewed the results, Lauren and I agreed that this matter is settled, and I accepted Lauren's apology on behalf of herself and her mother."

Boebert agreed that the matter had been settled. "It was kind of like ya, this is it, OK!" she said. "He has been wrongfully attacked, and he doesn't deserve that."

Lane said that he wishes Boebert the best and "if she continues the search for her biological father, I hope she finds the answers she has been looking for."
