Top Ukrainian advisor warns the war is coming to Russia and 'cannot be stopped' as drones destroy Russian aircraft

A top Ukrainian advisor has a severe warning for Russia: The war is continuing to come to Russian soil and won't be stopped.
On Wednesday, Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to the Head of the Office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, posted on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter, "The war is increasingly moving to Russia's territory, and it cannot be stopped."
He added: "This is a consequence of the lost frontline component (Russia has long been fighting only in numbers and only in defense, despite all propaganda myths) and the lack of realistic power control systems in the regions (including air defense)."
The fiery comments come amid increasing drone strikes inside Russian territory, including an attack over the weekend that Ukraine said damaged Russian fighter jets.
On Saturday, Ukraine's Security Services said it struck a MiG-29 and four Su-30s — Soviet-made jets prized by Russia for giving them a contested air superiority in the war — at the Kursk airfield in western Russia.
Ukraine said it hit the jets with Australian-made "cardboard" drones that have a range of up to 75 miles.
Drone attacks on Russia — Ukrainian-claimed or otherwise — are not new.
While UAVs pummel Moscow, a drone hit against a Russian Backfire bomber last week sent a shocking reminder that Russia had done little to increase defenses of its strategic bases and vital air assets since previous attacks against strategic bombers in December 2022 presented, what UK intel said at the time, was the "most strategically significant" force protection failure of the war.
