Company: Damsel In Defense

I am really glad you found your way to my Damsel In Defense review.

I am sure by now, you are sick and tired of reading business reviews written by distributors or affiliates of the company.

It can be frustrating when you are trying to find out all the appropriate information based on facts rather than biased praising.

You are in luck because I am not a distributor and I do research that analyzes just the important facts and provides you with all of the information you need to make a sound decision.

It’s pretty simple really; provide background information, compensation plan, pros & cons and finally, the verdict.

With this information you should have no problem making a sound decision on whether or not to conduct business with Damsel In Defense.

A Damsel In Defense Overview

According to the Damsel In Defense “About” page, their main goal is to educate women by teaching them how to defend themselves and their family members.

This program is not only geared toward women that have been assaulted but women that want to get the training as a preventative measure.

They are a company that provides services to customers, trains hostesses and hires Independent Damsel Pros.

All three of these categories make up the goods and services portion of the business.

This will be important information for the compensation part of the review to make sure to pay attention to those details later on.

The company was launched back in October of 2011 by the two Co-Founders Mindy Lin and Bethany Hughes.

Here is a quick list of Executives with basic information about them:

  • Mindy Lin: Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer
  • Bethany Hughes: Co-Founder and Chief Services Officer
  • Jimmy Lin, CPA: Chief Financial Officer
  • Chris Hughes: Chief Procurement Officer
  • Bob Hipple: Chief Executive Officer
  • Ingrid Windsor: Field Development Director

Damsel In Defense supports (RAINN) The Rape, Abuse and Incest nation Network.

They also market all of their products on the largest MSM media outlets in the United States. This is great news for people joining the team.

Brief Product Overview

damsel_complan

Almost all health and wellness MLMs focus on pills or some sort of consumable product…Not Damsel.

Here is a breakdown of some products:

  1. Stun Guns
  2. Pepper Spray
  3. Mobile Security Solutions
  4. Emergency roadside products

As you can see, all of these products are designed to provide safety for any women carrying them.

After reading the bios of all the executives, I get a family oriented organization feeling.

There are anecdotal stories about each executive and even a list of their hobbies.

The entire “About” page is very personable and provides a unique look into the lives of each of the big wigs.

I am very pleased with the fact that Damsel In Defense is providing the public with detailed bios of all executives.

Believe it or not, not many MLMs do this.

I understand that most readers may not think that this is important but it turns out to be very important…

Think about it; you know exactly who is running the show and you don’t have to do much more independent research in regards to the business side of things.

Plan To Get Paid…Or Not

Before we get down to the nitty-gritty, here is a link so you can view the Damsel In Defense Compensation Plan in its entirety.

I provide you with this so that if you have any questions after reading this portion, you can see it for yourself. You can also bookmark it if you feel like you need to come back later or make your final decision. Anyway, let’s get started.

Like the majority of MLMs, you get paid commissions when you refer people, sell products and recruit others to the team. There are 9 total ranks including: Recruit, Protégé, Junior Mentor, Mentor, Senior Mentor, Director, Crystal Director, Pearl Director & Diamond Director.

Commissions on Retail & Residual Sales

You can earn between 25% – 30% on all sales due to discounted prices that are available to you as an affiliate.

These figures are dependent on your rank.

You also get paid based on the total volume of all other customers or teammates.

Bonuses From Downline

Downline bonuses are sometimes referred to as residual commission and are paid through a 4 tier compensation plan. As an example, I will use Diamond Director details.

  • Tier 1: 4%
  • Tier2: 3%
  • Tier3: 2%
  • Tier4: 1%

You get the picture.

Bonuses From Generations

After you achieve Crystal Director you begin to earn from Generational Bonuses. There are 3 generation in this part of the payment plan.

Generation1: 3%

Generation2: 3%

Generation3: 3%

Overall their compensation plan is pretty straight forward but there are a lot of qualifications in order to earn each rank. Yes, there are plenty of ways to get paid. Yes, there are lots of products and services to provide people.

Yes, the product is unique. All of those things can help you make money. However, you have to recruit, and recruit often in order to make significant income. This part of the equation is a definite turnoff, but it is possible if you possess those skills.

The Positives Of Damsel In Defense

damsel_product

To be perfectly honest this is the first MLM that I have very little to complain about.

I mean seriously, it is a company that provides a lot of public information, all products are unique & finally, they represent and defend a great cause.

Think about this for a second, there are so many issues in the world that overshadow abuse and women’s rights.

This company is a great way to help women that have already been abused by way of therapy through training.

It is also a great way for women to empower themselves with a training program that fits their needs.

As I have said before, I am not a consultant of Damsel so I look at each company in an objective manner.

I can’t really think of anything major to complain about other than the recruitment requirements.

I will talk about that in greater detail in the next section…

The Negatives Of Damsel In Defense

NOTE: Looking at this from a business perspective.

Most people are not big fans of recruiting other people into an MLM and creating downlines.

There are millions of MLMers that feel the same way.

The reason people hate recruiting is because 95% of MLMers are horrible at it.

Not only do you have to get people to try the product, you have to find people that want to sell it.

They have to be successful and consistent in order for you to make money.

This is just the bottom line and it has a direct relation to your paycheck.

However, there is a solution to this, which I’ll cover towards the end of this review.

But, let’s look at the recruitment requirements first.

Here are some examples of recruitment requirements for Damsel.

Junior Mentors: You have to have at least 1 Active Frontline Recruits

Mentors: You have to have at least 1 Qualifying Frontline Recruits

Senior Mentors: You have to have at least 2 Qualifying Frontline Recruits

Directors: You have to have at least 4 Qualifying Frontline Recruits

Crystal Directors: You have to have at least 4 Qualifying Frontline Recruits & a 1st Generation Directors

Pearl Directors: You have to have at least 4 Qualifying Frontline Recruits & 2 1st Generation Directors

Diamond Directors: You have to have at least 4 Qualifying Frontline Recruits & 4 1st Generation Directors

Ok, so there is a negative when it comes to one aspect of Damsel’s compensation plan and its name is recruiting.

It is also important to note that these are just the recruitment qualifications.

There are also sales volume qualification.

Of course these types of requirements are expected, but they can make or break an MLMer.

The Final Verdict

For a lot of MLMers, one of the most traveled paths to sell these products is through home parties or organized events.

This can be a major problem for many people.

Most people do not like the amount of time it takes to organize planned events and then try to sell a product to friends and family members.

Not only does it give off a door-to-door sales(wo)man vibe, it can be somewhat embarrassing when you trying to sell to people you know.

It is not a good idea to mix business and your personal life.

To some people, this is OK. To others, it is a major turnoff.

Bottom-line … in order to make money you have to consistently introduce your business to as many NEW people as you can.

And from a business sense, if you CAN’T do this, then, it can be an uphill battle.

If you possess fantastic recruiting skills or know of other professionals that are willing to network with you, Damsel can make you money because of its unique product and great corporate structure.

However, if you lack recruiting skills, you may find it difficult to get your feet off the ground.
