Apple extends warranty for faulty iPad Pro keyboards

Having problems with the attached keyboard on your iPad Pro? You may not be alone, or even better — you may be entitled for some free repairs.

Apple is planning to extend its standard, limited warranty on select Smart Keyboards for both its 9.7 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro following issues with the snap-on accessory, according to 9to5Mac.

Specifically, the policy change covers Smart Keyboards experiencing functional issues, such as sticky or unresponsive keys, sensor or connector issues, or difficulties connecting the keyboard to the iPad Pro.

The extensions covers affected Smart Keyboards three years past the original retail date of the product (two years longer than Apple's typical warranty period) and will provide the service free of charge.

According to the report, refunds will also be eligible for customers who bought replacement keyboards that now fall under the extended coverage plan.

Thankfully, the Smart Keyboards in question launched alongside the iPad Pro's late 2015-early 2016 launch window, meaning customers have a solid extra two years at the least to bring in their dysfunctional Keyboard if they're experiencing these issues.
