Catchy political parody song overtakes Ed Sheeran in the UK charts
There is a surprise song on top of the iTunes singles chart, and it has to do with UK politics.
"Liar Liar GE2017" by Captain Ska is a scathing attack on Prime Minister Theresa May's policies on the NHS, education, and poverty.
The catchy melody and lyrics — "She's a liar, liar, you can't trust her, no no no no" — catapulted the song to number 2 on iTunes charts, behind "Despacito" but ahead of Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, Rita Ora, and Harry Styles.
However, radio stations have rejected calls (and a petition) to play the song, as broadcasters must show impartiality ahead of election, according to the Ofcom regulator rules. Read more...
