Police close road to investigate a grizzly find... sort of

Lane closures on the road sure are annoying, but imagine your road-rage if you found out the traffic jam you'd been stuck in had been caused by... a Halloween toy.

The Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit (UK) were called out to the A19 and shut down a lane after a report from a concerned citizen about a "suspicious looking item". They supplied a photo of said item on their official Facebook page, you can judge for yourself why a passing motorist might have considered it "suspicious".

The Cleveland and Durham police found that the hand was not an actual morsel of human anatomy but "a realistic looking 'severed hand'".  Read more...
