Teen Arrested For Running Cosmetic Surgery Clinic Out of Basement as ‘Dr. Kitty’

A 19-year-old Chinese-Canadian woman has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after she botched an unlicensed plastic surgery procedure under the pseudonym “Dr. Kitty”.

Jingyi “Kitty” Wang of Toronto, Canada, advertised cosmetic medical procedures out of her basement, according to the Toronto Police. A woman responded to the ad in April 2017, wherein she agreed to a “face-filler” and Wang performed the procedure. After a few weeks, the woman developed an infection, and corrective surgery by a licensed plastic surgeon was required.

The woman later reported the incident to the police; Wang was subsequently arrested on October 13, 2017 and was charged with aggravated assault. Officials believe this was not an isolated event and that there may be other victims who responded to the ad.

“Who knows how many other establishments this ad is placed in?” Toronto police spokesperson Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook said. “It’s quite discreet how it is, so there’s a possibility that there may be others and a very high likelihood that there may have been others who would have responded to this ad and sought the services of this person.”

Wang was scheduled to appear in court on October 14.

Persons with information are strongly encouraged to call police at (416)-808-3200.
