Young Mom Slammed by Body-Shamers After Sharing a Photo of Her Stretchmarks

A young mother of four in Malaysia who shared a photo of her stretchmarks was shamed for her body — some saying that they wanted to throw up at the sight.

Doreen Ching, 23, shared a photo of her stomach lined with stretchmarks on social media after accepting that her body would no longer look like it did before she became a mother.

In her original post, Ching recalled how friends warned her of the “damage” that came with her fourth pregnancy.

“Only 21 at the time, I wondered how I would be able to accept my stomach looking like this for the rest of my life. The first thing I did after leaving the delivery room was to look at my stomach and cry.”

“I was cracked up to a very serious kind of rupture and skin tissue was damaged.”

She also tagged her husband, Toh Yang Ming, saying, “Give me back my stomach!”

The internet being what it is, there were those who said that it’s nobody else’s fault but hers.

“Many told me I looked ugly and disgusting, and that they wanted to vomit,” she said.

Others simply expressed shock at the sight, while some claimed they are now afraid to give birth.

 

Still, the mother from Johor province has since received thousands of likes and comments, with many expressing support and admiration for her “bravery.”

“I can only see beauty and unconditional love.”

“You are a beautiful mother.”

“Be proud. You are beautiful!”

 

Despite the unhelpful criticism, Ching is a proud mother who believes that her tummy’s appearance no longer matters.

She also encouraged men to respect women.

She wrote in a follow-up post:

“Some men said it was all the women’s fault for wanting to have so many kids. Please respect the women of this world, such as your mother and your wife, who manage childbirth and still work. Can you do that?”

“My stomach doesn’t matter. I can still wear a bikini at home. I can only be as perfect as I can be.”
