Fujifilm Officially Killing Off All B&W Film and Photo Paper

Fujifilm today officially announced that it will be discontinuing its popular Neopan 100 Acros film in October 2018, bringing an end to the Acros line. This news confirms what was reported from dealers in Japan a week ago.

Fuji says that it has worked hard to absorb costs related to film manufacturing by doing things like improving production efficiency and by implementing various cost savings, but the economics just aren’t working out now. Thus, “sales will be terminated” for all Fujifilm’s remaining black-and-white film and paper products.

The Google translation of Fujifilm’s apology to photographer states: “Although it is truly selfish, thank you for your kind understanding on your circumstances.”

Fujifilm’s black-and-white photo paper lines will be discontinued between October 2018 and October 2019. You can find the entire roster of papers that will be ending here.

The 4×5 and 8×10 versions of Neopan 100 Acros were already set to be discontinued in May 2018, but photographers thought that the 35mm and 120 versions of the film had been spared.

Now it turns out the rest of the Acros line won’t even survive half a year longer.

A 35mm roll of Neopan 100 Acros currently costs $6.50, and a 120 roll costs $6 (you can also get a 5-pack for $24). If you’d like to keep shooting on Acros in the coming years, now is the time to stock up.
