Janet Jackson on #MeToo: 'We will no longer be controlled, manipulated, or abused'

At the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, Janet Jackson became the first black woman to receive the Icon Award.

Joining the likes of Prince, Cher, Jennifer Lopez and Stevie Wonder, the artist said she was "deeply humbled" by the award and used the moment to salute the #MeToo movement.

"For all the challenges, for all our challenges, we live at a glorious moment in history," Jackson told the audience, who had loudly chanted her name.

"It's a moment when at long last women have made it clear that we will no longer be controlled, manipulated, or abused. I stand with those women, and with those men equally outraged by discrimination who support us in heart and mind." Read more...
