Some of the best whisky in the world comes from Aldi
Germany-based budget grocery store chain Aldi is known for offering incredible bargains on your basic sundries. But that's not all. The store is now also the proud purveyor of two award-winning whiskies, for sale in its UK stores.
The Scotch Whisky Masters awarded gold medals to two Aldi-brand whiskies: its Highland Black 8-Year-Old Scotch Whisky and its Glen Marnoch Islay Single Malt Scotch. Neither is sold in Aldi's U.S. stores yet, but if you're in the UK, the Highland will only set you back £12.99 (a few coins over $17 U.S.) and the Glen Marnoch costs £17.49 ($23 and change U.S.).
This is just the tip of the ice tray for Aldi's selection of booze, though. The chain racked up 77 awards for spirits in 2017. (Aldi's U.S. stores don't sell these award-winning spirits, sadly, thanks mostly to state liquor laws.) Read more...
