‘Monkey King’ and ‘Pigsy’ Arrested After Fighting Tourist in China

Two legendary characters Monkey King and Pigsy, from the classic Chinese novel “Journey to the West” were recently arrested after getting involved in a street brawl with tourists in the city of Dali, China.

Sun Wukong, aka the Monkey King, and his sidekick Zhu Bajie, or “Pigsy,” were both captured on video taking on a human in a street frequented by costumed performers and tourists.

Visitors in that part of Dali usually pay a small fee to the mascots to have a photo with them, Shanghaiist reports.

The clip, which has become widely shared on Chinese social media, showed two men in costume apparently ganging up on one person.

Local authorities announced on Monday that the costumed duo were both arrested along with two tourists. It was not reported how the fight started nor what it was over.

Oddly enough, this is not the first time a person wearing the Monkey King getup got involved in a public brawl. Videos of Sun Wukong wannabes engaging in an altercation have gone viral before:
