  1. TikTok may be trying to negotiate its way out of being sold. ByteDance is talking with the US government about "possible arrangements" that would avoid a "full sale" of TikTok's stateside operations, according to The Wall Street Journal.
  2. Portland became the first city to ban the use of facial recognition technology in public spaces. More cities have started to crack down on the use of facial recognition technology amid growing concerns about civil rights and liberties violations.
  3. Two weeks before it goes public, investors are still confused about Palantir's business model. The firm faces questions about what makes its software offering different from its competitors and whether its services amount to more than consulting.
  4. Microsoft will launch two versions of the next-gen Xbox in November: The Xbox Series S, and the Xbox Series X. The Xbox Series S costs $300, while the Xbox Series X costs $500.
  5. China is retaliating against the US for its 'naked bullying' of TikTok with a new global security initiative. The data push is a retaliation against the US "Clean Network Initiative" which is aimed at walling off the Chinese internet.
  6. Mark Zuckerberg said Apple 'deserves scrutiny' over its App Store rules, and praised Google for letting people download apps not on the Play Store. Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Apple had "unilateral control" over what gets onto people's phones, which raises questions around competition.
  7. Twitter is trying to sublease parts of its San Francisco headquarters after telling employees they can work from home forever. The firm is reportedly offering up 104,850 square feet, which includes 878 work stations, at its headquarters on Market Street in San Francisco.
  8. Tesla stock rallied after plunging a record 21% during Tuesday's tech rout. Tesla's stock jump follow its completion of a $5 billion share sale and a five-for-one stock split last week.
  9. Apple took the wraps off its first floating store in Singapore to reveal a glowing glass orb. The dome-like structure in Marina Bay Sands is made out of 114 pieces of glass held together by 10 narrow vertical mullions.
  10. We got an exclusive look at the pitch deck urban mobility startup WhereIsMyTransport used to win investment from Google in a $7.5 million funding round. The firm collects local transport data and partners with local authorities to make thousands of routes in developing nations more standardized and accessible.
