Filipino Teen Creates Powerbank Strong Enough to Charge Gaming Laptops

Angelo Casimiro, a Filipino teenager and Electronics and Communications Engineering student, has created a power bank that can literally power up home appliances – even gaming laptops!

Casimiro, a 19-year-old student who runs the YouTube channel TechBuilder, created a DIY (Do-It-Yourself) video last December where he showed how to create a power bank with enough juice to charge up a gaming laptop or even power up any house appliances when not around an electrical outlet.

For this project, Casimiro used three USB power banks (he removed the lithium batteries inside them and discarded the rest), a DC-to-AC converter, two 3-Cell Balanced Lithium Ion Charger modules, rectifier diodes, contact cement, wood, and tapes.

The powerbank provides enough energy for several lamps, a single LCD TV, or even a fan while outdoors or when the power is out.

Just like any other powerbank available commercially for smartphones or tablets, this, too, can be charged at home via electrical outlets. What makes this one stand out over others on the market, however, is the option to charge it using a solar panel.

Casimiro, throughout his YouTube years, has made many amazing inventions, including the power-generating shoes he created back in 2014 when he was only 15 years old for the Google Science Fair 2014.

As if that wasn’t enough, he made headlines again a couple of years later. To welcome the return of “Star Wars” on the silver screen – “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” – Casimiro, who was only 17 at the time, made a real-life version of the popular droid BB-8 made only from household objects.
