Extreme Theme Park in China Will Test Your Fear of Heights

This extreme park in China, called the Wansheng Ordovician Theme Park, should not be taken lightly.

Located in Chongqing, a major city in southwest China, the Wansheng Ordovician Theme Park has super simplistic rides compared to traditional theme parks, with gargantuan roller coasters, a Ferris wheel, and other massive attractions.

The tourist attractions feature bridges, challenging walkways, and swings.

One of the park’s main attractions are its swings, which are placed at an altitude of 1,300 meters (4,265 feet).

There are originally four cliff-sides swings that can be found in the park. Two of those swings, which are open to tourists, have ropes that measure about four meters long (13 feet), while the other two, measuring about six and eight meters (19 and 26 feet) long, respectively, are only available for acrobatic performance.

3,000 to 4,000 tourists can ride the swings every day during the peak season,” a spokesperson said, according to Daily Mail. “A lot of young people come to our park just for the swings.”

In addition to the four cliff-sides swings, Wansheng Ordovician Theme Park unveiled another one that the just opened on April 29. This one, however, is much larger compared to the first four swings.

According to the report, the seat of the swing is attached to a beam measuring about 18 meters long (59 feet), which is comparable to a six-storey building. It also has a drop of around 300 meters (1,000 feet). Watch the swing in action here.

Tourists are only protected by belts connected to the seats, though, and there are no safety nets below the cliff. But despite that, the representative from the park guaranteed that the ride is “100% safe.”

The other main attraction of the park is an A-shaped walkway that extends 80 meters (262 feet) from the cliff, and with a height of 120 meter (390 feet) above ground, it’s something that daredevils should definitely check out while in Congqing.

This walkway, unfortunately, cannot handle more than 30 people at any one time.

If you think the walkway is not challenging enough, these bridges will surely pique your interest.

Interested? Tourists who would like to visit the park and enjoy all the rides would have to pay up an admission fee of 180 yuan ($28).
