Fake Kim Jong Un Eats Durian in Singapore While Waiting For ‘Peace Summit’ With ‘Trump’
“Kim Jong Un” made a surprise appearance in Singapore on Sunday (May 27), weeks ahead of the proposed North Korea-United States summit in the country next month.
Curious Singaporeans who followed the man with the familiar haircut walking around the Marina Bay Sands hotel eventually realized that he was actually Australian-Chinese impersonator Howard X.
The fake Kim was spotted sniffing some durian fruit and posing with fans for selfies.
“It looked like the real Kim Jong Un, but later I realized it’s not the real one,” tourist Sagar Admuthe told Reuters.
“When you see him, it’s very difficult to make out.”
The North Korean leader’s doppelganger, who went viral earlier this year after shocking North Korean cheerleaders at the Winter Olympics in Gangneung, South Korea, said he came to visit to support the summit between Kim and U.S. President Donald Trump. The two leaders are seeking to negotiate an ending to the North’s nuclear program.
“I think the two leaders will sit down and they’re going to have a great time because really they have the same personality,” the impersonator was quoted as saying. “They are going to be best friends right after this meeting.”
Just days after announcing the cancellation of the meeting on Twitter, Trump tweeted that U.S. officials had already arrived in Singapore over the weekend to prepare for it.

Our United States team has arrived in North Korea to make arrangements for the Summit between Kim Jong Un and myself. I truly believe North Korea has brilliant potential and will be a great economic and financial Nation one day. Kim Jong Un agrees with me on this. It will happen!

According to Howard X, his resemblance to Kim has helped him with his new career in Hong Kong where he gets hired doing films, commercials, and private functions.
“I said that guy looks a lot like me, and I thought, wow, I need to do something with this and make some money,” noted Howard X.
When asked if he needed to gain weight just to impersonate the chubby leader, Howard X said:
“This is my normal body, but he’s fatter, and I can’t catch up … it’ll damage my health.”
Howard X said his partner Dennis Alan, who impersonates Trump, will be joining him in Singapore just in time for the summit.
“Hey Donald, I’m already in Singapore, waiting for you to turn up,” he added.
