[Video Tutorial]: How to Quickly Design 5 Pinterest Templates Using Canva
Pinterest is the quiet younger child in the social media family. The platform doesn’t get nearly the hype of Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, but is extremely powerful at sending referral traffic to websites and blogs.
Whenever I check my website’s Google Analytics, Pinterest is my #2 referral network (after Facebook). And my brand isn’t one most people would consider particularly visually appealing, frilly, or feminine.
I understand the power of Pinterest, so I’m trying to improve my visual branding. Enter Allison Scholes, aka, the Boss Lady in Sweatpants.
Allison created a step-by-step video tutorial on how to design five Pinterest templates using Canva, a free online design tool.
Why five templates?
Allison explains that when people are scrolling through Pinterest, they’ll click on graphics that stand out to them. And different styles of graphics appeal to different people. As long as all five templates reflect your brand’s style, you’ll continue to attract new Pinterest followers (and click-thrus to your website).
4 items every Pinterest graphic needs
In her video, Allison details four items every Pinterest graphic needs:
- A title and sub-title that explains what the item you’re linking to is about
- Your brand’s colors and fonts (keep this consistent on all templates)
- Your log
- Your website address
Simple, yes? I can do that!
Allison also explains:
- How to select a Pinterest graphic template
- How to change a template to match your brand
- Why different layouts are optimal to drive traffic
Here are Allison’s step-by-step instructions for creating your five templates. Log in to your Canva account and follow along!
