Japan Pom Pom is a cheerleading troupe made up of women who are at least 55 years old. The head of the group is 84-year-old Fumie Takino who founded the squad in her sixties. According to ABC.net, she said:

“We’ve come a long way in 20 years!”

The team put on a fantastic performance in honor of their 20th anniversary during the United Spirit Association (USA) Nationals competition earlier this year. Though most of the other teams were made up of high school and university students, the grannies went out there and rocked it to “Dreamgirls”.

Takino, who started Japan Pom Pom two decades ago, says that cheerleading has helped her fight off the effects of aging. She feels mentally agile and physically nimble thanks to cheerleading.

The women sure look like dancing queens in their hot pink outfits.
