Chinese Man Posing as Sexy Schoolgirl Makes $3,000 Scamming Over 40 Guys
A Chinese driver who posed as a sexy schoolgirl has been arrested for scamming over 40 men of about 20,000 yuan ($3,000).
The 26-year-old man, surnamed Yang, used photos of a young woman studying in a Shanghai university, the Legal Daily reported. He then joined online prostitution communities and shared the photos to attract “clients.”
Yang used car-hailing apps as a driver. He checked-in at locations he had driven to and attempted to lure his victims in such areas.
He then earned money by asking interested guys to wire money to him, ranging from 600 yuan ($90) to over 1,000 yuan ($150).
But of course, Yang’s encounters were short-lived. The “schoolgirl” would then become unreachable.
Police started probing when a tipster informed that Yang had porn photos in his social media and his scam was revealed. Authorities discovered he had scammed more than 40 men.
Pornography and prostitution are both illegal in China, though online communities of the latter have persisted, South China Morning Post said.
The Chinese government, however, is serious in cracking down inappropriate live streams, such as those of toilet and street dancers.
