Sex Toy Causes Terrorism Scare at Thai Airport After Being Mistaken For Bomb
A domestic flight in Thailand was temporarily disrupted with a terror scare after a vibrating sex toy inside a passenger’s baggage was mistaken for a bomb.
The loud humming sound from the vibrator caused a momentary panic among passengers and flight crew, causing the delay of an AirAsia flight from Chiang Mai to Bangkok on Wednesday morning.
According to the Daily Star (via Straits Times), the airline staff heard a strong buzzing noise as they were loading a green backpack into the baggage section of the plane.
The baggage handlers then immediately called for the airport’s bomb disposal squad, who responded quickly at the tarmac of the Chiang Mai International Airport runway.
The bomb team was relieved to find out however that the intriguing sound came from a silver bullet vibrator that had been accidentally switched on.
“We noticed the bag was shaking and there was a buzzing noise coming from inside,” the baggage handler was quoted as saying. “Obviously we were pretty scared because this could have been a bomb or some other explosive device. But when the experts arrived they opened up the package and it was just a sex toy.”
He added, “The passenger is unaware that their bag caused a security alert. I think they would be deeply embarrassed if they found out.”
Scheduled to depart the airport at 8:25 a.m., the plane eventually took off after 8:30 a.m. to head for Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport.
The passenger was reportedly not alerted about the incident and the item was not confiscated.
