His Manager Did Nothing When Someone Stole His Lunch. But What He Did Next Is Just Legendary.
Everyone gets nervous their first day on the job. But to have your lunch stolen on your first shift is just brutal. What's worse? When nothing is done about it. Still their are other ways to get satisfaction... Many thanks to reddit user Scittles10-96 for sharing this story.
I worked at Best Buy and we had a new guy start and for his first day of work his girlfriend had handmade him a 5-meat 4-cheese fully loaded 24-inch submarine sandwich. 15 minutes before his lunch started he was telling me all about the sandwich, how awesome it was going to be and that he was so hungry he was going to eat it all. So his lunch comes and he goes in there and it's gone. He immediately comes to me about it and I walk him to the GM's office and we meet the GM outside his office. Our general manager tells him "It's only food." New Guy tells the general manager that it's not only food, it was a 24-inch 5-meat 4-cheese fully loaded sandwich made with premium deli meats & cheeses with fresh vegetables with the condiments on the side even so it wouldn't get soggy. That it took his girlfriend nearly an hour to put together, and he wanted the guy who stole his sandwich fired because food or not, theft is theft and it can not be tolerated in a retail environment. The general manager literally laughed at him and walked away into his office. [nextpage title="Continue this story on the next page!"] Now our GM had a process for everything, including lunch. When lunch time came around his phone dinged, he went to the office, grabbed his pepsi first opening it and drinking half the can straight away and then sits down to his lunch. He never eats out, and never ate anything different. He always had the same lunch with one regular pepsi and it was his daily "release". Also, I have never heard the guy swear before, but he's definitely a two-faced jerk who doesn't care about his employees. At first the GM either doesn't hear him come in, or isn't paying attention because the floor managers often kept things in the fridge and would come in and out to get them. I stay in the door to watch what happens because New Guy looked super pissed when he started into the office. Anyways, New Guy walks in and goes straight to the fridge, opens it and grabs both the GM's lunch & pepsi and then sits at the conference table behind the GMs desk. POP-TSSsss and the GM immediately swivels around wondering what the sound was. I watch the GM look at New Guy very confused, look over to see the open fridge, and then look back to New Guy who was then polishing off the Pepsi. The GM stands up and points at him with an angry finger, practically shouting as he's definitely lost volume control, asking New Guy what the f*ck he f*cking thought he was f*cking doing and if he was a MFing idiot. [nextpage title="Continue this story on the next page!"] The new guy ignores him and brings the GM's chicken wrap to his mouth, takes a HUGE bite while staring our GM right in the eyes and with much exaggeration says, "It's only food... right?" as food is falling out of his mouth onto the table and floor. The manager makes a move to run around the table to grab what's left and New Guy picks everything up while moving away and taking a bite out of everything. As GM is stepping up to him and he's taking the last bite he drops everything on the floor and walks out of the office. New Guy quit when he walked out and was never seen again. The GM was so angry that he went home and actually missed the next two days of work, when he had never missed a day in the year or so since he had started at that store. It was a beautiful day.
