Vietnamese Triplets Go From Being Drop Outs to Top 3 in Their High School Class
A trio of Vietnamese sisters recently made headlines after taking the top three spots out of 148 students at their high school graduation in Northern Texas.
The Tran triplets include Tran, who is the class valedictorian, Han, who is the salutatorian, and Ngan, who placed third at Evolution Academy in Richardson, Dallas. Their GPA’s were just one one-hundredth of a point apart.
According to Fox 26 Houston, the identical-looking girls were previously high school drop-outs before enrolling in the public charter school, which is also a dropout recovery center.
After the triplets’ parents separated in Vietnam in 2012, the girls traveled to Nevada with their father, while their mom stayed in Vietnam. They would later move to North Texas in 2015, where all three dropped out from school after feeling overwhelmed, reports WFAA.
They were out of school for about six months before enrolling at Evolution Academy Charter school.
“This is a very, very great honor,” Han was quoted as saying. “We never would imagine being that high rank in our class. And we just feel that the hard work that we did really paid off. It’s just unimaginable.”
“That’s the case for many of our students, they have had certain roadblocks and barriers, some self-inflicted, some just bad experience,” Evolution Academy Founder Cynthia Trigg told Fox 26. “But it’s not how you start, it’s how you end.”
While the sisters’ proud mother will not be able to attend their graduation, she will be watching via live stream online.
After graduation, the triplets are set to major in business and hospitality at Richland College, a community college in the Dallas County Community College District.
