Netflix had no chill at Comic-Con with 'Stranger Things' and 'The Defenders'
If there's one thing we know about Netflix, it's that when they make up their minds to go after something, they go hard.
For years the streaming giant kept a low profile at Sundance before burying it under a blizzard of cash in January; couldn't score a Cannes invite before finally crashing that party in May; and barely registered at Comic-Con before this weekend.
And to be fair, it finally had a good reason to come down.
With genre-inflected original films Bright and Death Note right around the corner and the explosive popularity of Stranger Things, Netflix was ready to put the Eggo in San Diego: A flashy booth on the convention floor. An off-site installation with long lines and rowdy crowds. Not one, but two full-blown panels in Hall H. And a "secret screening" to cap it all off. Read more...
