If there's one thing that's stressed time and time again in the Game of Thrones world, it's that history isn't linear. It's circular.
The consequences of different character's actions catch up with them, old lines of dialogue echo through time, and basically anytime anyone does anything — bad or good — you know it's going to catch up with them eventually. Just ask Joffrey.
