LG Launches Smartphone in India That Can Repel Mosquitoes
LG recently launched a device that not only functions as a smartphone, but also drives away annoying pests with its “Mosquito Away” technology.
With mosquitoes becoming a big problem in most parts of the world, especially in South Asia, South Korean electronics company LG has come up with a solution by releasing the K7i in India.
The LG K7i is part of the budget smartphone line-up dubbed the K-series, which includes the K3 and K4. While other smartphones in the K-series features the usual specs, only the K7i is bundled with an innovative rear cover add-on that can be used to repel mosquitoes when needed.
The K7i’s unique back cover acts as a speaker that is capable of emitting 30 kilohertz (30,000 hertz) ultrasonic frequencies to deter pesky mosquitoes, according to NDTV. LG claims that the K7i’s add-on cover doesn’t contain any “harmful chemicals”, which isn’t necessary for it to function.
The new device also comes with a “Mosquito Away stand” that holds the smartphone in place while sound waves drive away any unwanted guests in the vicinity. The Mosquito Away sound waves are strong enough to scare away the pesky insects, but LG claims that it’s harmless to humans.
As for its specs, the K7i is rocking a 5-inch display coupled with 2GB of RAM, 16 GB internal storage, a hefty 2500mAh battery along with an 8-megapixel camera and a 5-megapixel front shooter. Overall the K7i sports some decent budget-smartphone specs but the star of the show is undoubtedly its Mosquito repellent technology.
This isn’t the first time LG introduced innovative smartphone technology as it previously released the unconventional modular smartphone the G5.
“LG has always been at the forefront of unique innovations. With this launch, LG is bringing the mosquito away technology closer to the consumers in the form of a mobile device which can be an integral part of their daily lives,” LG India Marketing Chief Officer Amit Gujral said.
