Today in pettiness: Dude sues airline for serving sparkling wine instead of Champagne
As a man who just adores Edith Piaf has no doubt informed you, the term "Champagne" refers to a sparkling wine that comes from the Champagne region of France.
You are probably also aware that people often refer to all sparkling wine as "Champagne" — kind of a Kleenex/tissue scenario. One man, however, took such issue with this colloquialism that he decided to sue an airline for using it.
Per the BBC, Daniel MacDuff has elected to sue Sunwing Airlines for advertising a "Champagne service" when, in fact, he was served a cheaper sparkling wine instead. 1,600 other patrons have joined his class-action lawsuit. Read more...
