Twitter is finally building a bookmark feature so you can save tweets for later (TWTR)

Twitter is finally building a new bookmarking feature which means you can save interesting tweets that you want to read later.

The company is still in the process of creating the feature, and has put out a call for people to submit suggestions through the #SaveforLater hashtag.

Jesar Shah, an associate product manager at Twitter, said the company already has already built a prototype.

A video of the prototype shows a drop-down menu added to an individual tweet. If you click "Add to Bookmarks", you can save that tweet.

You would then access your bookmarks by clicking on your profile photo, which currently brings up a drop-down menu showing "Lists", "Moments", and your privacy settings. You could also potentially add Bookmarks as a column on Tweetdeck.

You can see how it works here:

While a bookmarking feature would be nice to have, it's probably a niche addition that mostly affects Twitter's power users. Up until now, most people "liked" any tweets they wanted to preserve for later, but a common complaint was that it was hard to tell the difference between someone liking something because they approved of it, or simply because they wanted to keep it for later.

Changes to Twitter's timeline also means "liked" tweets actually show up in other people's timelines.

Fingers crossed, maybe there'll be an edit button next.
