Samsung Galaxy S9 appears in new leaked renders

It’s been a long time coming, but we’re finally getting an influx of leaks showing the likely design of the Samsung Galaxy S9, including two new renders, showing off the phone in black.

The images, coming from reputable leaker @OnLeaks, follow a render video he created last week and give us another close look at the probable design of Samsung’s next flagship.

Shown from both front and back, you can see that the design is a lot like that of the Samsung Galaxy S8, complete with a curved screen, a curved glass back and tiny bezels.

The main difference – which lines up with other leaks we’ve seen – is that the fingerprint scanner has been moved to just below the camera lens. It’s still on the back then if this is accurate, but in a more central position that should be easier to reach.

You’ll note also that there’s just a single-lens camera shown. This too matches other things we’ve seen and heard, with just the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus likely to get a dual-lens camera.

Other features you can make out in these images include a headphone port and, of course, a dedicated Bixby button.

Coming soon with an improved camera

In short then it doesn’t look like much will be visually changing from last year’s phone, but the Samsung Galaxy S9 is likely to be different on the inside. We should know how different soon, as according to Bloomberg it’s probably going to be announced in late February and hit stores in early March.

That information apparently comes from ‘people familiar with the matter’ who add that the S9 and S9 Plus will have upgraded camera systems, and while the sources don’t give exact launch dates we have separately heard recently that the two phones may be announced on February 26.
