Kim Kardashian Excites Japanese Twitter By Looking for Manga in Tokyo
If you’ve been keeping up with the Kardashians, you may have seen Kim Kardashian West’s recent Instagram photo snapped at a Manga store in Tokyo.
Curious netizens did their research, pinpointing her location to be Animate’s Shinjuku branch, but the manga she’s looking at is still up for debate.
Model Press states that Japanese Twitter is wondering what she was doing in Animate in the first place — is it possible the socialite loves manga? Seeing as how Kanye West is her husband, her potential interest in the medium shouldn’t come as a surprise. West, whose aesthetic is certainly aligned with Japanese art styles, has previously expressed his love for anime and manga on social media, professing his love for the 1988 animated masterpiece, “Akira“.
As West grew up in China, it is entirely possible that he was more open to Eastern influences and therefore gravitated towards manga and anime at an early age. Perhaps he passed on his love for the genre to his wife?
Whatever the case may be, fans who were itching to meet the Wests while in Japan were sorely disappointed, as Kotaku uncovered evidence that suggests the photo was taken on their Tokyo trip last year.

Guess it’s harder than it seems to keep up with the Kardashians.
