Ever wonder what Asian seniors street fashion is like for those living in various Chinatowns across the United States? Well, wonder no more.
Friends and bloggers Valerie Luu and Andria Lo, who are both second-generation Asian-Americans, document the fashion style of seniors in several Chinatowns located in the U.S., which they then post to their blog, Chinatown Pretty. Images are also posted to their Instagram as well.
Some of the documented seniors wore pretty ordinary-looking clothes. But there are those who really stand out with their unique color combinations and style.
Brightly colored clothes seem to be the “it” fashion choice of the elderly in other Chinatowns in the country.
Not just their clothing made a statement — some even had customized canes to complete the look.
Some grandpas and grandmas also combined colorful clothes with their fancy suits.
While most of these seniors are so chill, happy, smiling and all that, this grandpa is just oozing with so much swag – not gonna lie, he looks even cooler than me.
“We met a new character in Chinatown this week. ‘What’s your name?’ we asked. ‘Angie No Good,’ he said, leaning up against the light pole. So punk,” the bloggers wrote in the caption.
As a celebration to Lunar New Year, Luu and Lo are holding an exhibit to showcase their work. The event will open its doors on February 22 at the JCCSF in San Francisco, and will continue to do so until June.
