Matt Smith is going to be in Star Wars Episode IX and no one knows who he's playing

Doctor Who star Matt Smith is returning to the cosmos! Variety reports that the actor, most recently known for his role as Prince Philip in The Crown, has been cast in an undisclosed but "key" role in Star Wars Episode IX.

Knowing how well Star Wars loves to cast tall, posh-sounding British men as officers of the First Order, it's entirely possible that he'll join Domnhall Gleeson's General Hux on the dark side of the galactic struggle — but there's something to be said for playing against type.
