Low-life Caught on Video Snatching Elderly Man’s Wallet With His Late Wife’s Photos in Honolulu
Surveillance footage of a 95-year-old man being robbed at a Chinatown market in Honolulu on Wednesday is making the internet rounds after his granddaughter asked Twitter users for help in identifying the culprit.
Lupo Fernandez was purchasing some fish at a counter in Oahu Market when a thief ran off with his wallet, which contained $40, ID cards, a bus pass, and photos of his family and late wife, Hawaii News Now reported.
In the surveillance video, the suspect can be seen pacing back and forth behind Fernandez before he grabs the wallet from the elderly man’s hands.
Fernandez, who is hard of hearing and does not speak English, is left at the market counter looking around helplessly.
His family says that he wasn’t physically hurt, but he returned home from the market angry and out of breath.
“He was shaking. Hopefully the guy who did this to him gets caught. What he did is not right,” Fernandez’s son, Rogelio, told the news station.
His granddaughter posted the video on Twitter, asking users to do their thing in tracking down the robber.

Fernandez’s granddaughter wrote that many elderly people shop at Oahu Market and the thief took advantage of that. She also said that her family has not created a GoFundMe page, even though there were accounts set up claiming to raise funds for the elderly man.
To everyone asking if we made a go fund Me, we didn’t. At this point it’s not about the money, he just wants his engraved wallet and the pics that were in it back.. Bless all your souls for willing to donate, we see it. We see you. And thank you❤️❤️

“That male’s actions were clearly suspicious, him pacing back and forth you could tell something was up. Just be aware of your surroundings. If possible, have a family member go out with you to run these errands,” said Sgt. Chris Kim of Honolulu Crimestoppers, adding that police have opened a case.
Anyone with more information should contact Crimestoppers at 955-8300 or make a report using the P-3 app.
