Filipina ‘Milk Tea Lover’ Claims She Found a Cockroach in Her CoCo Milk Tea
A Filipino netizen took to social media to share photos of a cockroach she found in her bubble tea drink from CoCo Milk Tea.
Facebook user Annielle Bocaoco said she was horrified when she nearly chewed on the insect, which she initially thought was a pearl “of different texture.”
A zoomed-in image of the insect showed that it already had one leg missing. In her post, she tagged the local CoCo MilkTea outlet in Mckinley Hill BGC, Manila. She found the establishment’s response disappointing.
The post gained immediate reactions among netizens who also found the discovery of the critter disgusting. One commenter also shared his own experience with an insect in his CoCo drink.
Others, however, accused Bocaoco of fabricating the issue to either malign the brand or extort money.
Bocaoco updated her post to address her critics, saying she’s a “milk tea lover” who considers the brand as one of her favorites. She also cited her mom and her Grab driver as witnesses when she spat the cockroach out.
“For CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice, I’m so disappointed with your response,” she wrote.
“I hope you were more concerned about my health. I’m not asking for a refund (and not) after the money. I would have been happy had you offered Medical Assistance,” she added in Filipino.
Bocaoco then highlighted that she was not the only customer who experienced finding a cockroach in her CoCo MilkTea drink.
Back in November 2016, a mother from Thailand also discovered a cockroach inside her teen daughter’s Coco Tea bubble tea they purchased at the Platinum Fashion Mall in Bangkok.
An executive from Coco Tea contacted her to apologize and offer an undisclosed compensation.
